FAQ FOR INDEPENDENT RETAILERS

Do I really have to take back used vapes in my store?

Yes. From 12 August 2025, all retailers (in-store and online) selling vapes must offer a take-back service. It’s a legal requirement under WEEE Category 7.1.

What happens if I don’t comply?

Non-compliance can lead to unlimited fines in Crown Court, up to £3m for large businesses, and even imprisonment. You could also lose your waste carrier/broker licence.

3. Who covers the cost of recycling?

Producers and importers must finance collection and recycling. As your compliance partner, we provide free stock support to offset your costs, plus bins, servicing, and maintenance at no charge.

4. Why is vape recycling so important?

Vapes contain lithium batteries (fire hazard) and nicotine residues/plastics (harmful to soil and water). Recycling keeps dangerous waste out of landfill, reduces fire risk, and supports the UK’s circular economy goals.
